There are many opportunites for professional development throughout the year.  Kim Van Atta sends out information when Seattle Public Schools offer courses of particular interest to SAEOPs.  Check ESS on your own for additional classes.  Any required trainings can also be used for inservice credits toward PSP.  These might include classes in SAP, eSIS, SPOT training, ASB workshops, Timekeeper training, Blackberry classes and so on.

SAEOP has a series of PSP workshops before the next filing deadline.  Click for details.

The Seattle Office of Emergency Management has a program called Seattle Neighborhoods Actively Prepare (SNAP)  You can go to their website and click the "Training and Events" tab for a list of free classes you can take ranging from Fire Extinguisher Operation to Earthquake Preparedness and more.

Check the WAEOP website calendar throughout the year for Professional Development workshops being hosted in different areas.  Here are some spring 2012 items:

Area 7 PD: Self Defense for Women, March 3rd in Auburn.  Click here for registration and brochure.

Area 2 PD:  Road Signs of Life, March 17th in Everett.  Click here for registration brochure.

WAEOP Spring Conference in Kelso, WA - April 20 and 21.  Click here for registration brochure

Check the NAEOP website calendar for National PD offerings too.  Don't forget about the National Conference and Institute July 9-13, 2012 in Costa Mesa CA.

Any time you take a class, take a blank copy of our inservice verification form with you.  If the workshop does not provide certificates of participation, you can fill out the verification form and get it signed by the instructor on the spot for your PSP records.  That is so much easier than tracking people down afterwards for signatures.
